I am as proud of our present and future as I am of our past. Four (of six) of our residents scored in the top 10% on the 2024 ABA Basic Exam and as a program we scored two standard deviations above the national program. We have a 100% CA1 Basic Exam pass rate the last two years. More than half our residents attend and present at ASA and many subspecialty conferences. We support two to four residents a year to participate in mission trips to the Dominican Republic.

Our program features over 35 faculty members and seven clinical sites to provide excellent clinical and educational experiences. Among our faculty are Anesthesiologists with a variety of expertise, fellowship training, and interests that trained at some of the other top institutions in the country such as Yale, Mass General, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Emory, and Johns Hopkins University. Additionally, our faculty includes three surgeons with subspecialty training in Critical Care and Trauma and a PhD research director.

Our clinical sites include Kendall Regional Medical Center, Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, the Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Nemours Children's Specialty Care Hospital, Wolfson's Children's Hospital, Nicklaus Children's Hospital, and Largo Medical Center. Collectively, our sites feature a level one adult and pediatric trauma center, three stand alone pediatric hospitals, and a surgical ICU under the medical direction of anesthesiologists. Our sites will provide training and education in every area such as trauma, burns, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, robotic surgery, regional anesthesia, critical care, transplant surgery, pediatric surgical subspecialties, and pain management.

With our faculty, clinical sites, and support of Envision Healthcare we are creating one of the best programs in the country for residents to train.

Our Philosophy is that we are the “Eye of the Storm”. We are ever watchful and vigilant keeping an eye on our patients at all times and like the eye of a storm, we are calm, organized, and focused in the midst of surrounding crisis.

Sincerely,

Chair of Education, Residency Program Director
Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Anesthesiology Residency Program at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. Our program is a community-based university affiliated program. We look forward to welcoming another outstanding CA-1 residency class into our family as we continue to build a tradition of excellence. Our goals are to build a residency training program and tradition that produces anesthesiologists that are excellent clinically, active in their community, and future leaders in our specialty, and simultaneously provide our patients and community with high quality care.

In our brief history we have 100% fellowship placement for our residents that applied for fellowships all-time. They have gone on to fellowships in Pediatric Cardiothoracic Anesthesia at UTSW, Pain Management at Loma Linda, Cardiothoracic Anesthesia at Duke and UM/Jackson, Critical Care at Brigham and Women's Hospital and WashU in St.
